Here in South Aberdeenshire, in the Howe of the Mearns, lies Coach House, Kair.

The Romans came to this elevated position in 200AD and built a marching camp, exactly where Coach House sits. It was built as the stables for the adjacent estate house of Kair. There are lovely views all around of the surrounding farmland and to the hills beyond.

A sweeping driveway leads up to 6 acres of private lawned grounds and paddock.

Coach House is a most attractive stone-built country house. It was built over 200 years ago to replicate the style of architecture that exists at Kair House, which was designed by Robert Adam. In marked contrast to the classical period look on the outside, internally there is a thoroughly modern and contemporary feel.

This is truly a special house. If you seek luxurious seclusion and total relaxation, then Coach House may well just be the place for you. We offer first class accommodation in the form of two luxury suites.

Breakfast

Our incredibly spacious dining area has individual discreetly positioned tables which overlook the garden. Take advantage of the beautiful views watching the sun rise over surrounding landscape and hills beyond.

Breakfast at Coach House is a highlight – an imaginative feast of local produce, with varied menu, especially tasty food served hot and fresh, and catering for all dietary tastes.

Aside from the traditional Scottish dish using the very best of local produce, our specialities include our fresh fruit salad, our famed potato rosti, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, home-made pancakes fresh from the griddle, deliciously light French toast served with proper crispy bacon and the introduction of one or two other surprises. All these sumptuous treats are accompanied by speciality teas and Highland Coffee grown in Kenya yet roasted in Perthshire.

For those who really do wish to truly relax and would prefer the privacy of in-room dining, the continental option, served to your room is a veritable mini-feast.

To start with, maybe you’d like to slow things down, so if this is the case then you don’t need to venture too far. There’s a lovely wee spot in the garden to sit and chill and watch the world go by.

Nearby there are several small villages to explore. Stonehaven lies 11 miles north. Here we have the best of all worlds. We are 15 minutes from the coast and yet just a short hop away from hills and glens. We are close by to the heart of Royal Deeside, an entirely different landscape where castles and distilleries abound.
